France and Swiss

No goals. Well, it could be worse. 8 yellow cards given by the referee however. Hnery failed to shine. So did Saha. And Wiltord. And Zidane. Senderos did superbly well on defence though. Interesting point. In the final few minutes of added time, Swiss Alexander Frei was given a yellow card after a Switzerland free kick. Why? He took a diving header right in front of the goal post. He also stuck out his fist.

Was he trying to do a Maradona? A hand of God? Fabian Barthez objected immediately of course. And with video, he wasn't going to get away with it. Plus, he missed. Ironically, if he had not punched it, it would have landed on the chest of his teammate, meaning, they could have had a goal. As it stood, Swiss players ended in the netting, but the ball was free, free to float around somewhere.
